Abstract

Shalakya Tantra is the branch of Ayurveda which deals with the diseases of Otolaryngology along with Ophthalmology and Oro-dentistry. Ayurvedic equivalent of modern anatomy is Rachana Shareera, anatomy of nose in Ayurveda is termed as Nasa Shareera. Historical review, embryology, anatomical parts, characteristics of ideal nose, as well as the concept of Nose as the Gateway to the structures of head and neck region, as per Ayurveda have been dealt with.
