Angiomyolipoma of Parotid

Abstract

Angiomyolipomas are non-cancerous growths consisting of smooth muscle, blood vessels, and mature fatty tissue. They typically develop in the kidney but can occasionally be found in the head and neck area. While extremely uncommon in the parotid gland, with only very few reported cases to date, we present here the case of a 17-year-old female who had a slowly enlarging mass in her parotid gland over the past four years. Upon examination, a soft, rubbery mass measuring 2 x 1 cm was discovered in front of her right ear. Histological analysis confirmed the presence of an angiomyolipoma in the parotid gland. In conclusion, when encountering rubbery masses in the parotid gland, considering angiomyolipoma in the differential diagnosis is prudent.
